Getting Stuff Done

Leonard Gottfried is a fictional character that I came across on a political satire site a while ago. I found the billboard on the right to be amusing as well as enlightening. How would we deal with a politician who would not only make such a statement, but follow through on it?
Getting shit done in politics is almost impossible given the current state of affairs.
Tom Delay is busy raising funds for the future Republican Defense fund , while GW , Dick & crew continue on like nothing has happened. { You might remember Mr DeLay as the Republican House Majority Leader of the last few terms/years..} He was THE mover of the Republican party, getting a lot of shit done.. { for those who chose to donate to the Republicans & his own election campaign} . In order for things to get done in Washington, it had to get past Mr DeLay. Well, at least until he was indicted on federal charges & forced to give up his post, & powerhouse seat.
Getting shit done. Isn't that the ultimate goal of all politicians? Then why do we always run into political gridlock when shit needs to be done? Why must politics have so much red tape that the shit turns to constipation? { unless it suits the powers that be at the moment} . Maybe, the reason shit isn't getting done, at least what this country needs to boost its economy, is that the people in power right now choose to spin things to their own benefit. So, theoretically, shit is getting done, right before our eyes, its just that its not the shit that will benefit the majority. It benefits a small minority.. The rich oil companies, defense contractors & energy suppliers.. The minority profiting from the majority. Politics as designed back in the days of the Boston Tea Party..
Maybe we need a revolt against the controlling party.. Maybe we should stage a "gas out, where we don't buy gas AT ALL for 2 or 3 days. Maybe we need to take control of our politicians. Perhaps Leonard Gottfried would be a good man to have as a figurehead . Or maybe just this concept is all we need ?
Getting shit done , right before your fucking eyes. I like the concept.
