Have We Forgotten?
"The War on Terror".
Osama Bin Laden...
Isn't that the name that we should be associating with the war on terror? Wasn't he the one who organized a rag-tag group of terrorists to hijack planes in our own country & crash them into predetermined targets?
Wasn't Osama the person who claimed responsibility for starting this whole mess that is referred to as"The War on Terror" by the Bush Administration? Or is my memory starting to fade with age ? Wasn't the initial goal to capture Bin Laden? Wasn't that the whole point of this "War" ?

Then why did we chase so hard after Saddam Hussein ?
Why did we attack Iraq?
Why did we shift focus away from Osama Bin Laden & his followers ?
Why are we in the process of " fixing the politics" of a country that didn't have a damn thing to do w/ this attack on America?
How did we manage to capture Saddam , but not Osama ?
Why are we in Iraq ?
War on terror ? Or war for Gas ? Which one is it Mr GW Bush ? Mr Cheney? Anyone ? {6:12pm EST}

P.S......{ I need to add this for myself}
I chose the above picture for no reason other then it represents my own memory of a pre-war country. As a kid, I got to watch from the New Jersey side as the towers were built { late 60's- early 70's} . I grew up looking at the NYC skyline over the meadowlands and swamps. The NYC skyline along with these 2 towers was visible from my old HS.
I couldn't even begin to count the number of times I passed through them on the PATH train which ran to the trade center . {cheap ,easy transportation to NYC on days off from school ,, LOL } .
We all have memories from that day and I won't drag mine out here. I just think we need to remember that this was the start of it all. It had NOTHING to do with Iraq.
Please, comments are more then welcome. Both positive & negative. { 7:23pm EST}

We went into Iraq because Saddam had been funding and training terrorists for years. He had WMDs - a fact recently confirmed by his senior military advisors. And the United Nations had passed 15 resolutions threatening him with "serious consequences" if he would not cooperate with the UN weapons inspectors. After 9/11, the President rightly decided that we could no longer wait for the UN to take action. The President waited for 2 additional UN resolutions, and then took care of Saddam. We took out Saddam to eliminate him as a possible threat.
Osama Bin Laden is only a part of the terrorist problem.
Thanks for the comments Steve. You might be suprised to hear that I agree with a majority of the points you made, with one small exception . You stated - " the President rightly decided that we could no longer wait for the UN to take action."- That statement should read that -the President decided- .. right or wrong on the issue was never left open for discussion. His decision violated the UN's policies regarding hostile actions.
Having said that,, It is good to have Saddam out of power,, but does that give us the right to go after North Korea next? just asking :}
